On April 30, 2026, Rivian said vehicle production is on track to begin in late 2028, with a planned first phase of 300,000 vehicles a year, and that its Department of Energy loan had been resized to up to $4.5 billion.
What’s already running is in Stanton Springs, the 1,600-acre park run by the joint development authority for Jasper, Morgan, Newton and Walton counties. Takeda makes plasma-derived therapies there, with 1,300 employees and contractors by its own count in October 2024, though Takeda calls it its Covington site. Meta’s Stanton Springs Data Center is there too, and still adding on: the authority approved plans for three new buildings in August 2025. The Georgia BioScience Training Center is in the park too.
The town itself is small and straddles the Walton and Newton county line. The Census counted 18 new homes permitted here in 2024 and 43 in 2025, all single-family.
