Freight Delivery in Calhoun, Georgia
🏆 Uline’s Georgia Carrier of the Year — 10 Consecutive Years
Uline National Carrier of the Year 2017 & 2024 | Serving Atlanta Since 1985
Davis Delivery Service has provided freight delivery in Calhoun, Georgia since 1985. Our Buford facility is 85 miles southeast of Calhoun, giving us fast, reliable access to the entire Gordon County area for LTL freight, full truckload, liftgate delivery, cross-dock warehousing, and same-day service. We handle every category of freight delivery Calhoun businesses need — from single-pallet residential deliveries to multi-truckload industrial shipments.
As Uline’s Georgia Carrier of the Year for 10 consecutive years and 2-time National Carrier of the Year (2017 and 2024), we’ve earned a reputation for the consistent on-time performance, careful handling, and direct customer service that Calhoun shippers expect from a local carrier. Our damage claim rate runs under 1 percent — a fraction of the 2-5 percent industry average — because most freight is handled once at pickup and once at delivery, not shuffled through multiple terminal transfers.
Freight Services We Provide in Calhoun
LTL freight delivery for palletized shipments from 150 to 15,000 pounds. We run Monday through Friday. Same-day pickup within metro Atlanta for orders before noon, next-day delivery across our service area, and 1-to-3-day service across the Southeast. We optimize freight class and weight breaks on every shipment to keep your costs down — something national carriers rarely do.
Liftgate delivery for Calhoun locations without a loading dock. Every box truck in our fleet is liftgate-equipped. Liftgate service is a flat $50, and residential delivery a further $50 — $100 all in, quoted before the truck rolls. The same delivery at published minimums elsewhere: $150 at Estes, $220 at Old Dominion, $339 at Saia and $450 at both FedEx Freight and R+L. Whether your delivery is to a residential address on a quiet street near I-75 exit 312, a retail storefront, a medical office, or a construction site, our drivers arrive with the equipment to lower pallets safely to ground level.
Same-day freight delivery for urgent shipments in Calhoun. Call our dispatch line at (678) 926-3939 before noon and we’ll have a truck on the way within 60 minutes. Production line down, retail stockout, emergency medical supply, or construction materials needed before end of day — we handle the urgent calls that LTL networks can’t accommodate.
Full truckload service for Calhoun shipments over 15,000 pounds or requiring exclusive trailer use. Dedicated truckload routes available for regular shippers with consistent volume — often more economical than per-shipment FTL for businesses moving freight 3+ times per week.
Cross-dock warehousing at our Buford facility just off I-985 at Exit 8. Break-bulk operations, freight consolidation, short-term storage, and distribution coordination for Calhoun businesses that need more than just point-to-point freight. Our facility supports importers moving containers from Savannah port, manufacturers consolidating from multiple suppliers, and retailers distributing to stores across the Southeast.
Expedited freight for rush shipments across the Southeast. Guaranteed service windows, dedicated equipment, and direct routing when timing matters more than cost.
Davis Delivery Tile and Flooring Division
Our new Tile and Flooring division is a specialized service built for Georgia’s flooring distributors, tile importers, and contractor networks. Flooring freight has specific handling requirements most carriers don’t train drivers for: pallet orientation matters, stacking limits matter, corner strapping on tile crates matters, and damage claim rates on fragile flooring products run significantly higher than general LTL with carriers who don’t specialize.
For Calhoun flooring distributors, dealers, and contractors, the Davis Delivery Tile and Flooring division provides:
- Dedicated flooring freight expertise for ceramic tile, porcelain slabs, natural stone, LVP (luxury vinyl plank), laminate, hardwood, carpet, and specialty flooring products
- Drivers trained on flooring handling — proper banding, pallet shields, A-frame handling for slabs, moisture protection for hardwood
- Dealer showroom delivery with appointment scheduling that respects your showroom hours
- Job-site delivery for contractors installing in Calhoun and across metro Atlanta, with site-safety awareness and precise pallet placement
- Residential flooring delivery for contractors and direct-to-consumer flooring operations, with liftgate service available for a flat $50
- Dedicated pickup routes at major flooring distributors in Norcross, Roswell, Gainesville, and throughout the metro (Emser Tile, Florida Tile, Specialty, Crossville Studios, Ceramic Tile Services, and others)
- Under 0.5 percent damage claim rate on flooring freight — specifically because of the handling training and fleet equipment built for this category
If you’re a Calhoun flooring distributor, contractor, or tile importer, our Tile and Flooring division provides service specifically engineered for the category. This isn’t general freight service with a flooring label — it’s specialized handling from drivers who understand why a tile pallet needs different treatment than a pallet of auto parts.
Calhoun’s Flooring Makers and the Liberty Road Vote
On September 14, 2026, the Calhoun City Council approved annexing and rezoning about 70 acres on Liberty Road for a 173-home single-family development, with Smith Douglas Homes as the builder, over residents’ objections about infrastructure capacity. If it goes ahead, that’s 173 houses that will each need cabinets, appliances and flooring brought to the lot and set on the ground, and every box truck we run has a liftgate for exactly that.
Calhoun is the Gordon County seat, and flooring is a big part of what it makes: the Gordon County Chamber lists Mohawk Industries on South Industrial Boulevard, Engineered Floors on Bentley Drive and Mannington Mills on US-41. Berry Global, Racemark and Western Plastics have US-41 addresses too. The county’s development authority oversees two industrial parks, a 200-acre site on McDaniel Station Road and another on US-41 South.
Mannington’s Calhoun facility is where the company said it would move some of its Chatsworth finishing work. That was part of its October 2025 announcement that it was leaving the residential carpet business and cutting 211 jobs in Dalton and Chatsworth. So for Calhoun the news was a consolidation, not a closure.
Calhoun is about two hours from our dock in Buford, via the Perimeter and I-75. Depending on the address, we come off at Exit 312, Exit 315 for Red Bud Road, Exit 317 for GA-225 or Exit 318 for US-41.
Why Calhoun Shippers Choose Davis Delivery
Local means actually local. Our Buford facility is just off I-985 at Exit 8 with direct access to Calhoun. National carriers serving Calhoun route freight through terminals in Atlanta, Chattanooga, or Charlotte — adding line-haul miles that you pay for and damage risk from additional handling. Our trucks go from our dock to your dock.
Real people answer the phone. Call (678) 926-3939 and you reach dispatch in Buford, Georgia. When a delivery needs to be rescheduled, a claim needs to be filed, or a shipment needs urgent rerouting, you talk to someone with authority to solve the problem — not a call center reading from scripts.
Consistent performance over decades. Davis Delivery has operated under the same family ownership since 1985. Our drivers average 10+ years with us. That consistency shows up in service quality, customer relationships, and the willingness to make the right call on unusual shipments rather than deferring to policy.
Transparent pricing. Our quotes include accessorials up front. No surprise invoices, no reclassification fees, no reweigh charges tacked on after delivery. What we quote is what you pay.
Full spectrum of services. Single-pallet LTL to multi-truckload dedicated service. Residential curb delivery to enterprise warehouse distribution. Standard freight to specialized tile and flooring handling. One carrier relationship covers everything your Calhoun operation needs.
