Freight Delivery in Rome, Georgia
🏆 Uline’s Georgia Carrier of the Year — 10 Consecutive Years
Uline National Carrier of the Year 2017 & 2024 | Serving Atlanta Since 1985
Davis Delivery Service has provided freight delivery in Rome, Georgia since 1985. Our Buford facility is 100 miles east of Rome, giving us fast, reliable access to the entire Floyd County area for LTL freight, full truckload, liftgate delivery, cross-dock warehousing, and same-day service. We handle every category of freight delivery Rome businesses need — from single-pallet residential deliveries to multi-truckload industrial shipments.
Our damage claim rate runs under 1 percent — a fraction of the 2-5 percent industry average — because most freight is handled once at pickup and once at delivery, not shuffled through multiple terminal transfers.
Freight Services We Provide in Rome
Everything we run reaches Rome from our dock in Buford: LTL freight priced by class and weight, truckload by the hour or by the load, single pallets, dedicated trucks and drivers, tile and flooring, and cross-dock or warehouse storage when freight needs to wait. For same-day delivery, call our dispatch line at (678) 926-3939 before noon and we’ll have a truck on the way within 60 minutes.
Every box truck in our fleet is liftgate-equipped, so we can deliver without a dock, whether the stop is a residential address on a quiet street off Highway 27, a retail storefront, a medical office, or a construction site. Liftgate service is a flat $50, and residential delivery a further $50 — $100 all in, quoted before the truck rolls. The same delivery at published minimums elsewhere: $150 at Estes, $220 at Old Dominion, $339 at Saia and $450 at both FedEx Freight and R+L.
Rome and the Last Twenty Miles Off I-75
The quickest way into Rome from our dock in Buford leaves I-75 at Exit 290 and runs about 20 miles west on GA-20 and US-411. Rome has no interstate of its own. US-411 at Exit 293 is the other way in, and Exit 312 up in Gordon County is signed for Rome as well. With a clear road the whole trip is about two hours and 95 miles, only a handful of minutes more than Calhoun, which sits right on I-75.
Once you’re there, the range of work is wide. The Rome Floyd Development Authority counts more than 100 manufacturers in Rome and Floyd County, 16 of them international companies. Its June 2024 list of the largest takes in tires at Pirelli, auto parts at F&P Georgia, paper and packaging at International Paper and Georgia-Pacific, food at Kellanova, Kerry and Summit Hill Foods, and steel racking at Steel King. Ball announced a new Floyd County plant in late 2019, and by June 2024 Ball Metal Container had 242 employees here.
East of town, over the Bartow County line, the Hyundai and SK On battery plant sits between Rome and Cartersville off US-411. It started making cells in June 2026.
Most of those plants take freight by the trailer-load at their own docks. What we’re built for is everything around them: a replacement part going to a machine shop, a contractor’s order headed for a job site, a store or a house with no dock and nobody on hand with a forklift. Every box truck we run has a liftgate, so that kind of stop is routine for us.
